Are computers Brilliant… or a bit thick?

Last time at Carrot we had something a bit different. Jeremy Flight from Rubiqa came along to demo a mobile card game app he’d built. A few tech gremlins meant the “big screen” idea was scrapped, but honestly, what happened next was far more fun than any slideshow.

Instead of a standard tech talk, Jeremy just passed his phone around and got us all playing. As the cards shuffled and buttons were tapped, he managed to explain – in a way even the least techy among us could grasp – how you can write software that makes so-called ‘stupid’ computers look clever. Smart stuff, but never heavy-going.

You wouldn’t think you could make this topic enjoyable, would you? Yet that’s exactly what happened. People chipped in, asked questions, shared thoughts – and suddenly it wasn’t a lecture, it was a lively conversation. The kind of thing that turns business networking into something richer: people genuinely curious about each other.

And that’s why Carrot feels different. Yes, we talk shop and yes, opportunities come out of it.

But there’s also space for relaxed chats, a good laugh, and the odd surprise. It’s not just business; it’s about building real connections. And sometimes those connections start with a slightly unpredictable card game.
